Dear Sir,

The Action Access A1079 group is very interested to hear of your campaign as we are also currently engaged in a campaign that has region -wide support including the support of our local MPs. Questions have already been asked at Westminster and we are currently putting together a vision of the road for the future plus a brief for our MPs to take forward.

I attach a copy of our recent submission to York Council for their proposal to restrict the road even further with traffic lights. This submission explains also what our aims and objectives are and what the problems are with the road.

The A1079 links the largest port complex in the UK (dealing with 13% of the country's seaborne trade) with the most famous tourist city destination in our region and yet in places is little better than a country lane. Development of communities along the road has led to increased commuting, delay in journey times and there seems to be some evidence that this has affected economic growth in the area.

We would very much welcome your participation in our campaign to add to the tremendous support that we already enjoy from the Hull Daily Mail, Yorkshire Evening Press and BBC Look North.

Regards

Grahame Hicks
