Report an incident on the A1079
We are seeking evidence of incidents on the A1079 that are not normally reported. These can include delays due to 'minor shunts' or slow moving vehicles or gridlock due to popular events such as the gridlock on Wednesday 22nd February 2006 due to a popular local auction.
We would also welcome details of incidents which, but for luck, could have resulted in a major accident. This could include problems caused by vehicles joining, crossing or leaving the A1079.
If you are aware of any incident that you feel could be added to our list please send details to webmaster@a1079.org.uk.
Thank you for your help.

- Going north, I was overtook by a young male in a hot hatch on the section known as the Beverley by-pass. He was doing 90mph in my estimation. He then pulled into a lay-by, but was still maintaining about 70mph, drove along it and then out again and in doing so undertook a slow moving lorry! It was all the more horrific because in that lay-by was a young mum with the off-side rear door open (looked like she was securing a small child in a car-seat). He must have missed her by inches. It could have so easily have been a different story.

- AS A REGULAR USER OF THE A1079 I HAVE SEEN SOME NEAR MISSES, MOST OF THEM DUE TO PEOPLE PULLING ONTO THE A1079 WHEN THERE IS AN INSUFFICENT GAP, OTHER TIMES DUE TO PEOPLE OVERTAKING ON BENDS. MY GIRLFRIEND WENT INTO THE BACK OF SOMEONE AT POCKLINGTON AFTER THEY PULLED OUT INFRONT OF HER THERE WAS NO DAMAGE TO HER CAR LUCKY THE IDIOT INFRONT HAD ALL THE DAMAGE. SOME THING NEEDS TO BE DONE, THE JUNCTIONS AT POCKINGTON AND WILBERFOSS ARE A JOKE.
